Bordeaux – not only a wine region

Pont de Pierre La Perle d’Aquitaine

This time we decided to make a short but intense journey to Bordeaux with surroundings. First of all to visit old friends, Béatrice and Pierre, but also to discover more of this lovely part of France. Bordeaux is situated in southwestern France and it is the capital of the Aquitaine region.

On Your visit to Bordeaux You will discover the beautiful Garonne River (length of 602km) and all the really nice restaurants, coffey-shops and promenades situated along the river. A few years ago this port area was a place You didn’t want to visit, especially at night.., but today the area is cleaned-up and renovated to a modern and popular hangout.

_La-Place-de-la-Bours- La Place de la Bourse (17 Place de la Bourse  – 33076 Bordeaux) is the finest part of the riverfront. This place is even more beautiful at night when “The miroir d’eau” just in front of the Garonne reflects the Palais de la Bourse, it’s just “magique”!

Why not have lunch here? Just next to “The miroir d’eau” You will find a restaurant called l’Estacade (33, Quai de Queyries 33100 Bordeaux). Here You will have a good price-worth meal in a really nice atmosphere. The location of l’Estacade is lovely and the view just stunning!

It was friends of us, Daniele and Eric, who told us about the place and it is really a great place for either lunch or dinner, and once again …, the view of Bordeaux is fantastic!

Triangle d’Or

Luxury, charming and discrete.
The Golden Triangle of Bordeaux really looks like a triangle. This monumental heart of Bordeaux is surrounded by three “chic” boulevards, Cours George Clemenceau, Cours de l’Intendance and Allées de Tourny.

Just enjoying the day!
We spent the afternoon just strolling around in this beautiful quarter of Bordeaux, making some shopping, having a drink at the sunny terrace of Le Grand Café (65, Cours George Clemenceau – 33000 Bordeaux) and visiting the enormous esplanade des Quinconces.

We left Bordeaux, after this really relaxing and sunny day, around seven in the evening heading towards St. Emilion.

We had dinner in St. Emilion this evening. You will have all details on my page St. Emilion & Margaux.

As we stayed with our friends this night it wasn’t necessary to find any hotel accommodation. Still, I can give You a tip as I stayed in a very nice hotel in Bordeaux some time ago.

Book a hotel at Booking.comLonging for some luxury?
Hotel Burdigala MGallery (115, rue Georges Bonnac – 33000 Bordeaux). This is a 5-star hotel situated in the heart of Bordeaux.

It is also possible to have a gastronomic dinner in the excellent restaurant of Burdigala “La Table” and You can naturally  choose between several “Grands Crus” to go with your meal. Don’t’ forget that You are in Bordeaux “le capital mondiale du vin”!
