Paris c’est magique!
We had an absolutely marvelous day in beautiful Paris lately. After a light “french” breakfast with a cappuccino and a fresh and tasty croissant we started our day with some shopping in the legendary shopping mall Galerie Lafayette “un bazar de luxe” (40, Boulevard Haussmann – 75009 Paris). Take your time to have a look at the spectacular coupol, created in 1812, situated in the main building, it is absolutely beautiful. You will find all kinds off stuff in this luxury department store and it is so easy to spend several hours and euros here.
Finally we ended up in “Lafayette Gourmet” which is a dream for food lovers. It’s amazing what you find here, all the best and tastiest flavors are found in this food shop. It is also possible to have a snack or to eat your lunch here, you have to try it at least once! And please make a visit the “Bordeauxthèque” that you find on the same level as “Lafayette Gourmet”. Here you can find and buy several af the greatest wines of Bordeaux, it’s just exceptional. Imaging that you can find bottles from the world famous Châteaux Margeaux (Margeaux) or Châteaux Ausone (Saint Emilion) in this cave.
Angelina tea room
We finally decided to leave Galerie Lafayette and had walk to Angelina (226, rue de Rivoli – 75001 Paris), one of the most famous tea room in Paris. Angelina was created 1903 and is a luxury and prestigious name that symbolises “The french way of life”. You just have to taste the Mont Blanc at Angelina. The Mont Blanc is an absolut “must cake”, filled with whipped cream, meringue and vermicelli chestnut cream and it’s really tasty. Before the Mont Blanc’s we ordered two salads. I had a very tasty and nice “Angelina Foie Gras Sallad” and my friend took a “Ceasar Sallad”. Trop bon!
Once our delicious and relaxing lunch at Angelina was over we decided to walk over to the Opera house or Opéra Garnier as it is called in French (8, rue Scribe – 75009 Paris). This is a magic place where all the greatest opera, ballet and concerts are shown. Opéra Garnier is a chef-d’œuvre architectural and it is fantastic to stroll inside the building. There is a small fee to enter the Opera house but it is absolutely worth every penny! You will be amazed of the beauty of Marc Chagall‘s ceiling painting inside the main auditorium, it is just beautiful.
Dinner chez Monsieur
As we were rather tired in the evening we decided to have dinner close to our hotel. We were really lucky as we found a nice “table” in the restaurant just in front of the hotel, Chez Monsieur (11, rue Chevalier de Saint-George – 75008 Paris).
This typical french bistro from the 1940 serves delishes food and wine. A really good address i Paris!
We stayed in Premier Hôtel Opéra Richepanse (14, rue du Chevalierde Saint-George – 75008 Paris). This cosy 4-star hotel is perfectly situated in a central but calm street. It takes less than five minutes of walking to get to “la place de la Concorde” and the beginning of “les Champs-Elysées”. You will also find the luxury shopping street “la rue Saint-Honoré” within 50 meters from the hotel.
* Good to know. We did not use any transportation this day, everything was within walking distance which was really nice.
