Paris oh là là!
There are so many things to see and do in this extraordinary city. You almost need to live here to be able to see everything. If there is one thing that I have learned during my trips around the world it’s that it is almost impossible to see and do everything in one trip. The most important is to take Your time, select a few things and really appreciate what You see and do. You are on vacation!
What’s up today?
On our fourth day in Paris we decided to visit Musée Rodin (79 Rue de Varenne, 75007 Paris) in the morning. You will find masterpieces from August Rodin and Camille Claudel. The nice thing with this museum is that You can visit the museum inside the beautiful hotel Biron plus that You can visit the absolutely charming garden. Try to get here a sunny or at least a day without rain as You find several of Rodins most famous sculptures in the garden. I must say that I really did fell in love with this place!
There is also a Café of the Musée Rodin and a bookstore/boutique in the area of Musée Rodin.
*Save time! Try to reserve Your tickets online as You might find a long line of visitors in front of the museum.
We need some food and something to drink!
As we felt very hungry and a little lazy we just grabbed a taxi to get from the museum to Notre Dame de Paris.
The restaurant we found was “Un Mojito sur Scène” (2, Quai de la Tournelle – 75005 Paris) which is a boat floting on the Seine. The best thing with this bar/restaurant is the situation. You have a fantastic view on the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris and even tough You are just minutes from the crowd on la place Saint Michel and la Place Jean Paul II its calm and quiet on the boat. The lunch was ok but rather expensive for this kind of lunch/meal.
Croisiere sur la Seine & Notre-Dame de Paris
Don’t leave Paris without taking a boat cruise on the Seine. It is really nice to discover “The City of Light” from a new angle. There is a large number of cruises on the Seine. Some of the cruises offer guided tours, dining, different routes, night cruises etc.
As we wanted to visit the Cathedral Notre-Dame (6 Parvis Notre-Dame – Place Jean-Paul II -75004 Paris) as well, we made the choice to take a cruise on a ship from Les Vedettes du Pont-Neuf (Square du Vert Galant – 75001 Paris). As both the Cathedral and Les Vedettes du Pont-Neuf are situated on l’Ile de la Cité, in the center of Paris, it made it easy for us to walk (10-15 min. walk) from the Cathedral to board on of the cruises.
We did really enjoy our boat cruise that took about one hour.
After getting off the ship we started our way back to the hotel (Hotel Le Six -14, rue Stanislas – 75006 Paris). It took us around 45 min. to slowly stroll up le Boulevard Saint Michel and to cross the beautiful garden of “le Jardin du Luxembourg”.
Dinner in Montparnasse
We walked from our hotel to the area of Montparnasse in the evening (10min. walk). In this lively area You will find cinemas, theaters, restaurants, shopping and of course La Tour Montparnasse (33 Avenue du Maine, 75015 Paris). This modern building has 59 levels and is 209 meters tall. It is possible to visit the tower and You can take the elevator to get to level 56 within 38 seconds, the elevator is the fastest in Europe!
I do not know really how but after a while we ended up in a fun place called “Petit Journal de Montparnasse” (13 rue du commandant René Mouchotte – 75014 Paris). Le Petit Journal de Montparnasse is in fact a well-known Jazz Club in Paris where You can come for a drink or a meal and listen to live music. Anders and I really had a great evening in Montparnasse!
Paris Rives Gauche.
Parfait! We found this well located 4-star hotel, Hotel Le Six (14, rue Stanislas – 75006 Paris) really charming. It’s situated on a rather quiet street but still close to all the shops and restaurants in the area of Montparnasse.
If You would like to do some footing or just go for a walk You will find the beautiful Luxembourg garden, just a 5 min. walk away. The palace in the Luxembourg garden is the residence of the Senate of the Third Republic (since 1879).
